The impressive voice cast for The LEGO Movie continues to impress with this weekend’s announcement that Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Cobie Smulders have joined the project. Previously announced vocal talent include Chris Pratt (Parks & Recreation) who plays the lead character, along with Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, and Liam Neeson. The film is scheduled for release on February 7, 2014.

The LEGO Movie comes from 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and tells the story of LEGO characters that must come together to defeat the forces of Lord Business (Ferrell). Pratt plays to type as a confused construction LEGO who teams up with Superman (Tatum), Batman (Arnett), Green Hornett (Hill), Wonder Woman (Smulders) and others. The film features stop-motion animation with real LEGO pieces, along with computer animation.

A trailer for the film focuses mostly on Pratt and Freeman’s characters. Hill and Ferrell both previously voiced characters in Megamind.

As great as the cast is that isn’t always the best determiner for the quality of the movie. Thankfully though I know we are in good hands with Phil Lord and Chris Miller. With Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street they really showed their range. Really looking forward to this one.
