PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have issued a statement requesting all scenes filmed at SeaWorld be removed from the upcoming sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The scene involves Ron Burgundy falling from grace and resorting to appearing at the longtime marine attraction as a way to make ends meat. The SeaWorld segment was heavily promoted looking for extras and appears in the film’s trailer.

“The constant deprivation that marine mammals face at SeaWorld is suited to a horror film, not a comedy,” says PETA Foundation Director of Captive Animal Law Enforcement Delcianna Winders. “The makers of Finding Dory changed its ending after learning how cruel SeaWorld is, and PETA is calling on the creators of Anchorman to do the same—and leave all SeaWorld scenes on the cutting-room floor, where they belong.”

So far there has been no comment from the film’s producer Judd Apatow or the film’s creative team led by director Adam McKay and star Will Ferrell.
