Variety is reporting that Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart are planning to costar in Get Hard, a comedy from director Etan Cohen. Cohen made his name as a writer, including Idiocracy and Tropic Thunder, and is currently set to helm the currently in pre-production Daddy’s Home starring Ferrell and Vince Vaughn. Scripting Get Hard are Ian Roberts (Talladega Nights) and Jay Martel.

The film “follows a wealthy investment bank manager who is convicted of a crime he didn’t commit and prepares for prison with help from the guy who washes his car,” according to Variety.  One presumes Ferrell is the future prisoner and Hart as the car washer.

There’s no start date yet, but Hart is suddenly hot coming off an extended cameo in This is The End and robust box office for his concert film Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain which did over $30 million this summer on a budget of just $2.5 million.

I wonder if Daddy’s Home has fallen by the wayside, even though the article says it’s in pre-production. Filming was supposed to start in August, before Vaughn went on to another film, which is filming now. News today is Vaughn has another feature starting up early next year, doesn’t leave much room for Daddy’s Home.
