As promised in yesterday’s story about the initial reviews of Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, a new theatrical trailer has been released. The new trailer shows quite a bit more of the mechanics of the story, which follows Stiller’s character as he realizes he has missed opportunities in his life and rectifies them with a series of daydreams. The new footage also smartly includes the presence of all the film’s costars including Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott,¬†Shirley MacLaine, Kathryn Hahn, Patton Oswalt, and Sean Penn.

The music in the trailer is definitely positioning the film as a heartwarming tale, indicating the “crowd-pleaser” label attributed to the film in some early reviews might stick when the film is released at Christmas. Leave your comments on the trailer below.

    I just saw a very similar trailer before Gravity at the cinema, I’m from Australia so I’m assuming I was watching the international version of this one. Looks really good, the first trailer had be intrigued but this new one got my money.

    Where was Oswalt in this? Was he the voice on the phone at the end?

    @Benjamin The trailer in front of Gravity (at least when I saw it in the USA) was the first trailer for the film.

    @Adam, yes that’s Oswalt’s voice

    @Kevin it was definitely different to the other trailer’s I had seen, it was basically this one but with some different bits of footage here and there which is generally pretty common for trailers we get over here.

    One of the twitter reviews said he was disappointed that it wasn’t Zoolander. Such BS. If I’m mid-20s, does that really mean I won’t connect with this? I mean, I daydream.

    And by the way, what’s the song that plays in the second half? I know the song in the first half is Dirty Paws which played in the teaser.

    I found the song. It’s called Step Out by Craig Wedren and Theodore Shapiro and sung by Jose Gonzalez.

    The voice at the end (Patton Oswalt) is the same voice as the beginning.
