Owen Wilson will be filming an action thriller for the first time in more than a decade when The Coup starts shooting later this month in Thailand. Costarring are Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell, with the film being helmed by┬áJohn Erick Dowdle who also cowrote the film. This will be Wilson’s first straight action film since 2001’s Behind Enemy Lines.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Coup follows an American family living in Southeast Asia who get caught in the middle of a violent revolution. They must flee to safety while being hunted by a murderous rebel leader. Bell will play Annie Dwyer, a woman who is loved by everyone and has a seemingly perfect family life, but wonders sometimes if she should be happier than she is.” The film had been slated to film last fall but this time it looks like shooting will indeed happen.

Bell is familiar to TV audiences from her role on Boston Legal, along with eclectic comedic roles in Children’s Hospital and Wainy Days. She’s getting rave reviews for her latest film In a World…, where she stars, writes, and directs. However, here in Fratville, Bell is most likely known for what was at the time Paul Rudd’s first starring role in forever, Over Her Dead Body, which thankfully didn’t kill Rudd’s career even though it was one of the worst films I’ve ever seen.
