Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly may be planning to re-team for the first time since Step Brothers (or, technically, Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie), with the Halloween themed Devil’s Night, according to The Wrap. The project is under Sony’s banner, who produced Step Brothers and Talladega Nights, and will be produced by Gary Sanchez Productions. The film was written by Andrew Mogul and Jarrad Paul (Yes Man, Allen Gregory).

The film references the day of debauchery before Halloween, when the two characters played by Ferrell and Reilly had bonded as children. After a falling out, the two must reteam years later to save the neighborhood from destruction. The the comedy pair had a similar love/hate/love relationship in the $100m grossing Step Brothers in 2008 and the mega hit Talladega Nights in 2006.

Though the project looks a long way off from being greenlit, it’s been too long since the pair hare toplined a film together. The pair have appeared with musical projects like The Little Drummer Boy in 2010 and the 2011 Beastie Boys video Fight for Your Right Revisited, as well as the extended cameo in the Tim and Eric movie referenced above. Reilly is expected to cameo in Anchorman 2, however.

If it’s the closest we are going to get to a Step Brothers 2 then let’s pray it happens.

Sounds like Step Brothers meets This is the End. I’ll be honest, even if the premise doesn’t sound that exciting, I’ll take these two in anything.
