The Motion Picture Academy announced the annual Oscar nominations today. Among the notables today were a second career nomination for both Jonah Hill scoring his second Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Wolf of Wall Street. Also nominated in the category after a Best Actor nom last year is American Hustle’s Bradley Cooper.  The second nomination for both actors is quite an accomplishment and as noted below a testament to how far the two have progressed since they appeared on our radar back in 2005.

Jonah Hill and Bradley Cooper

Amy Adams secured her fifth nomination total and first in the Lead Actress category for American Hustle. Many Oscar prognosticators had left the Talladega Nights star off their lists, but given that American Hustle seems destined for a Best Picture win it’s entirely possible sentiment will jell around finally rewarding Adams with an Oscar. All the other actresses nominated for Best Actress are former winners.

Congrats to Steve Coogan on two nominations this morning as well!

Yes, I hadn’t realized that Coogan is both a writer and producer (along with being a costar) of the Oscar nominated Philomena.
