Opening big this weekend is The LEGO Movie, a computer-animated film combining LEGO characters from a number of franchises with new original characters and set in a LEGO world. The film is helmed by 21 Jump Street and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Most impressive is the vast cast of voice actors, many of which are familiar to Frat Pack fans. Toplining is Chris Pratt (Delivery Man), along with Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Liam Neeson, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Cobie Smulders, Will Forte, and Morgan Freeman. Will Ferrell is the villain, Lord Business. This is such a great collection of talent and some other familiar voices appear to voice LEGO-franchise counterparts of their famous film roles. Arnett, playing Batman, seems to be getting a lot of attention in the ads, as does Banks who plays an original character named Wyldstyle.

The film opened huge yesterday and looks to be another big hit for Lord and Miller who have the Jump Street sequel coming this summer. If you’ve seen The LEGO Movie, leave a comment below.

Such a great movie. Lots of fun with some great running gags. And most definitely some really cool surprises. Ferrell is great and Banks and Arnett really crush it. Pratt far less annoying than normal (I’m not normally a fan).
